Mohammed Bello-Koko, the Managing Director of NPA, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday, highlighting that the loan mandate letter would soon be forwarded to the Debt Management Office for final review and approval.
Furthermore, Bello-Koko mentioned that discussions have commenced with another funding agency to finance the enhancement of the Eastern Ports, encompassing Calabar, Warri, Onne, and Rivers Ports, as well as the reconstruction of the Escravos Breakwater.
In addressing the current operational challenges within Nigeria’s ports, Bello-Koko emphasized the implementation of the Port Community System. This system aims to streamline processes by reducing the number of forms required for transactions, minimizing human intervention, and facilitating a more efficient clearance process for goods entering or leaving the country.
This significant investment underscores NPA’s commitment to modernizing and improving Nigeria’s port infrastructure, ultimately enhancing trade facilitation and economic growth in the region.
