In a statement on Wednesday via X, Obi highlighted South Africa’s recent milestone of achieving seven consecutive months of uninterrupted power, contrasting it with Nigeria’s struggle to generate and distribute just 10% of South Africa’s 40,000 MW capacity.

Obi emphasized that the energy crisis affects Nigerians across all regions and groups equally. “Is there any tribe in Nigeria that enjoys uninterrupted power supply like South Africa?” he asked, dismissing any claims that certain groups are favored in the sector.

Underscoring the need for unified action, Obi called for a departure from divisive sentiments, focusing instead on electing visionary leaders who prioritize the nation’s development.

“The reality is that we all suffer equally from this failure,” Obi stated, stressing that the solution lies in “transformative leadership” that can steer Nigeria towards a productive economy by investing in critical areas like health, education, and infrastructure.

“We must set aside these sentiments and elect leaders with the vision to transform our nation, increasing electricity production and distribution and lifting our people out of poverty,” he urged.
