According to Emmanuel Igbasan, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, the inclusion of N5 billion was a mistake attributed to the printer of the document. He explained that the provision was intended to reflect the expected drawdown from the Nigerian for Women Project, a World Bank-supported initiative previously captured under capital receipts.
Igbasan emphasized that the reported N18 million allocation for the Nigerian for Women Project was specifically designated for the renovation of a daycare center. He described the N5 billion figure as a regrettable interpolation error during the document’s preparation for publication.
Acknowledging responsibility for the error, the Ministry has initiated corrective measures to rectify the mistake. Igbasan reassured the public that the operational implementation of the budget would not reflect the erroneous allocation and expressed regret for any confusion caused by the error.
