Ooni Gifts Sunday Igboho’s Security Outfit ₦100m, Hilux Vehicle

The donation was announced on Tuesday at the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, during a courtesy visit by Igboho and members of the security outfit to the traditional ruler.

In a statement released by the monarch’s media team, the Ooni described the initiative as a timely effort aimed at complementing existing security structures and improving the protection of lives and property across Yoruba communities.

The monarch commended Igboho for his commitment and determination towards addressing security concerns in the region, stressing that protecting communities requires collective responsibility beyond political, religious or ideological differences.

Oba Ogunwusi noted that sustainable development can only take place in an environment where peace and security are guaranteed. He also urged traditional rulers, community leaders, business owners, professionals and other stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at promoting safety and unity across Yorubaland.

The Ooni further emphasised the importance of cooperation among Yoruba people, stating that unity remains a key factor in tackling security challenges and advancing the interests of the region.

Responding to the gesture, Sunday Igboho expressed appreciation to the monarch for the financial support, vehicle donation and royal encouragement. He described the Ooni as a respected leader committed to promoting Yoruba unity and development.

Igboho said the visit was also an opportunity to brief the traditional ruler on the activities of the Iru Ekun Security Network and seek further guidance on its operations.

He disclosed plans to organise a summit involving traditional rulers from across Yorubaland to discuss practical solutions to security challenges affecting communities in the region.

According to Igboho, the security network would operate within the framework of the law while working with relevant authorities and local communities. He added that the organisation’s focus would include community policing, intelligence gathering and supporting peace efforts across Yoruba communities.
