Over 600 Nigerians Refuse to Return from Lesser Hajj, Sparking Concerns of Stricter Saudi Visa Rules
Senator Shehu Sani Raises Alarm Over Nigerians’ Refusal to Return from Saudi Arabia
Senator Shehu Sani, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former representative for Kaduna Central, has brought attention to a troubling situation involving Nigerian pilgrims. According to Sani, over 600 Nigerians who traveled to Saudi Arabia for the Lesser Hajj have chosen not to return to Nigeria.
In a recent update on his official X handle, Sani voiced his concerns that this mass refusal to return could lead to stricter visa regulations by Saudi authorities. He warned that the actions of these individuals might prompt the Saudi government to impose tighter controls on travel and visas for future pilgrims.
Sani’s post highlights the potential negative impact this situation could have on many Nigerians wishing to travel to Saudi Arabia in the future. The possible tightening of visa rules could make it more difficult for genuine travelers to obtain permission to visit the holy sites. This change could affect not only those intending to perform religious duties but also other travelers.
Sani stated, “Over 600 Nigerians who traveled to Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj refused to return, and this will compel the Saudi authorities to tighten their visa rules. Many of those who want to travel will likely face difficulties.”
The situation underscores the need for careful adherence to travel regulations and emphasizes the broader implications for future Nigerian pilgrims.
