Police Rescue 100 Kidnapped Victims, Eliminate Suspected Bandits In Katsina

In a significant operation, the Katsina State Police Command has successfully rescued 100 kidnapped victims and eliminated five suspected bandits. ASP Sadiq-Aliyu further revealed that in addition to the rescue operation, the police recovered 658 rustled animals and apprehended 11 suspected murderers and 29 rapists within the period of March. The command’s proactive measures also led to the resolution of 51 major crime cases, including armed robbery, kidnapping, culpable homicides, and cattle rustling.

Out of the reported cases, 30 involved 64 suspects who were charged to court. Notably, nine suspects were arrested for armed robbery, while 19 others faced charges for various offenses such as intimidation, incitement, theft, and association with criminal gangs.

In a gesture of support for the families of deceased police officers, the command presented a cheque totaling over N4.5 million to 13 bereaved families. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Finance and Administration, DCP Aminu Usman-Gusau, conveyed the cheques on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa. This financial assistance, sourced from Group Life and Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Schemes, aims to provide support to the families of police personnel who lost their lives in active service.

The successful rescue operation and the commitment to supporting bereaved families underscore the dedication of the Katsina State Police Command to maintaining peace and security in the region, reaffirming their role as protectors of the community.
