The DHQ, through its official X account, announced the wanted status of the eight suspects on Thursday, linking them to the killing of the army officers and soldiers who were on a peacekeeping mission.
The individuals declared wanted by the Nigerian military include Akevwru Omotegbono, Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriri, Igoli Ebi, Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe, and Reuben Baru.
In response to this development, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, expressed support for the military’s action in a post on X on Thursday.
Onanuga urged Nigerians to demonstrate patriotism by reporting any information about the whereabouts of the accused to military formations or the police.
He wrote: “Defence Headquarters declares eight people and a woman wanted in connection with the killing of our military men in Okuama on 14 March. Have you seen them? Be a patriot by reporting them to any military formation or the police.”
It’s worth noting that the 17 slain soldiers were laid to rest amidst tears at the Military Cemetery in Abuja on Wednesday, as earlier reported by Ireporteronline
