In the heart of Nigeria’s Kwara State, the city of Ilorin stands as a testament to transformative leadership. At the forefront is Senator Saliu Mustapha, the Turaki of Ilorin and representative of Kwara Central in the National Assembly. Senator Mustapha’s commitment to inclusive representation is evident through the establishment of constituency offices across the four local government areas of Kwara Central. In the realm of education, he has sponsored eight impactful bills addressing key issues affecting both his constituency and the nation. Notably, he facilitated the reconstruction of a one-kilometer asphaltic road at Al-Hikmah University, enhancing connectivity in Ilorin West Local Government Area.

Agriculture, a cornerstone of Kwara’s economy, has received a significant boost under his leadership. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, Senator Mustapha provided 3,500 tons of fertilizer and 1,000 pumping machines to smallholder farmers across Kwara Central. This initiative empowers farmers to overcome challenges in food production and improve the quality and quantity of their produce.

Job creation remains a priority, with Senator Mustapha facilitating employment opportunities for numerous indigenes of his Senatorial District into Federal Government Agencies, Departments, and Parastatals, as well as military and para-military agencies. He also appointed several individuals as Senior Legislative Aides and Aides to Principal Officers in the National Assembly, in addition to his own Legislative Aides.

Infrastructure development has not been overlooked. He facilitated the installation of solar-powered motorized boreholes and street lights across the four local government areas of the senatorial district, ensuring access to safe water and improved security through better lighting.

Reflecting on the successes of 2024, Senator Mustapha highlighted progress on key initiatives, including a groundbreaking ₦500 million project aimed at furthering development in the region.
