Sanwo-olu Clarifies: Demolitions In Lagos Have No Ethnic Target

During a live media chat titled ‘Sanwo Speaks’ on Thursday, Governor Sanwo-Olu addressed concerns regarding the ongoing demolitions, emphasizing that ethnicity plays no role in the enforcement of state regulations.
“We only remove structures that contravene the State’s building and development laws. We don’t consider the ethnic or religious background of those flouting our laws. We cannot compromise on these laws; our priority is to uphold the integrity of the city,” stated Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Amidst this clarification, the Lagos State Governor also unveiled plans for a 25% reduction in transport fares for government-owned transport schemes, aiming to alleviate the economic burden on Lagosians.
Furthermore, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced a reduction in the number of mandatory physical workdays for civil servants, intending to introduce a more flexible workweek to enhance productivity and employee well-being.
While teachers will maintain the traditional five-days-a-week work schedule, additional transport support will be provided by the government to accommodate their needs.
This move reflects the state government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and law-abiding environment while prioritizing the welfare of its residents and employees.
