During a media chat on Thursday, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced that his administration aims to sustain this feeding program for at least two months, emphasizing the need to address the adverse effects of the prevailing economic challenges and rising living costs.
Explaining the strategy further, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated, “We want to identify Mama Put and caterers. We want to be able to feed between 1,000 and 1,500 in every local government per day, you know, at the first instance, for the next, you know, 30 to 60 days.”
Highlighting the success of similar initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, the governor emphasized the importance of providing sustenance to those in need, particularly amidst ongoing economic hardships.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured that the logistical aspects of the initiative are being meticulously planned, with caterers being identified and funds allocated to facilitate the provision of daily meals. Beneficiaries will receive vouchers to access the food, ensuring a seamless process for distribution and consumption.
With this innovative approach, Governor Sanwo-Olu aims to alleviate the burdens faced by Lagosians while fostering a sense of community support and solidarity during challenging times.
