Sanwo-Olu Launches Eko Cares Initiative To Aid 500,000 Lagosians
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has initiated the Eko Cares Initiative, a socio-economic intervention program designed to alleviate economic challenges faced by residents. During the launch, Governor Sanwo-Olu cautioned council representatives against withholding the distributed items, underscoring his administration’s dedication to enhancing residents’ quality of life. He urged residents to continue supporting the government’s efforts while instructing community representatives to ensure equitable distribution of food items among the less privileged individuals in their areas.
The primary objective of the Eko Cares Initiative is to address food scarcity challenges among residents, with community leaders, religious organizations, trade unions, youth groups, people with disabilities clusters, and human rights organizations entrusted with the task of distributing food items. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of avoiding hoarding food supplies to ensure fair distribution.
Additionally, the governor announced the continuation of the Ounje Eko market initiative until further notice, providing further support to residents during these challenging times.
Commenting on the initiative, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, hailed the Eko Cares launch as a significant achievement in Governor Sanwo-Olu’s ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of Lagosians. He highlighted the governor’s consistent commitment to fulfilling promises and addressing the needs of the populace since assuming office in May 2019.
