News24 reported that Omotoso is set to be deported to Nigeria immediately following the court’s decision. His co-defendants, Lusanda Sulani and Zukiswa Sitho, were also involved in the case.
Several young women had accused Omotoso of luring them to his home in Umhlanga, South Africa, where they claimed he sexually assaulted them.
Omotoso was arrested in April 2017, shortly after arriving at an airport in South Africa. He is the senior pastor of Jesus Dominion International in Durban and the founder of Tim Omotoso Global Outreach and Ancient of Day Broadcasting Network.
Judge Irma Schoeman ruled that the state prosecutor failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt. Omotoso had been incarcerated in South Africa since his arrest in 2017.
