The fixture is part of Argentina’s tour of China, with the team also scheduled to face Ivory Coast at the same venue during the same month. The Argentina Football Association (AFA) and a Chinese corporation finalized the deal on Monday, January 29, leading to an immediate announcement by the AFA.
This international friendly will bring together two formidable teams, sparking excitement among football enthusiasts globally. The encounter serves as a postscript to the ongoing 2023 AFCON, with Nigeria advancing to the quarter-finals stage and preparing to face Angola on Friday, February 2.
The history between the Super Eagles and Argentina has seen six notable meetings since 1994. While Argentina has secured five victories in the 1994, 2002, 2010, 2014, and 2018 FIFA World Cups, the Super Eagles managed to secure a historic 0-0 draw in the 1995 King Fahd Cup.
Additionally, Nigeria has celebrated two wins over Argentina in international friendlies, in Abuja in 2011 and Krasnodar, Russia, in 2017. The upcoming clash promises to be a riveting spectacle as both teams vie for supremacy on the global football stage.
