THE IMPERATIVENESS OF MAKING MALLAM SALIU MUSTAPHA THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF APC

As the All Progressive Congress, APC National Convention is drawing nearer, there is a need for a concerted effort to ensure that the right person clinches the position of National Chairman of the party.

That right person is no less a personality than the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, Mallam Salihu Mustapha. Before dwelling on the imperative of choosing him as the National Chairman of APC, I like to digress a bit.

Essentially, growing up in Ilorin as a young boy what I got to know was politics of acrimony, bitterness The height of it was in 2003 when some people lost their lives during the electioneering rancour that characterise the political atmosphere at that time It was a year many Kwarans don’t like to talk about for so many reasons but for the purpose of this discourse I had to mention it.

Furthermore, I described Mallam Saliu Mustapha as a great politician because he never had a father who is a politician nor a political father figure who would have prepared ground for him to have ridden to the limelight. Despite that, he is the fastest growing politician in Kwara state today.

Do you know why? Turaki of Ilorin spreads love and generosity among the people of the Ilorin Emirate and beyond. He is a politician with robust inclusiveness, hence his admirers cut across party affiliations and lines. More importantly, during the days of ANPP in Kwara state Salihu Mustapha was going from house to house, ward to ward to acquaint himself with the people. He was doing it in good faith and believed that the future would be better.

Today, everyone wants to be associated with the Turaki of Ilorin of Emirate. Honestly, it is good to be good. APC as the ruling formidable party in the country must see it as a matter of urgency to install a man of integrity and inclusiveness as the party National Chairman.

The party needs the personality of Saliu Mustapha simply because he will be a rallying point for all members of the party across the country

APC needs someone that would genuinely change the narratives. Some Nigerians still believe the party has not fulfilled the campaign promises made in 2015, most especially in the area of economy and security

Therefore, APC needs the person that would change this narrative by articulating the achievements of the party. As a patriotic Nigerian who believes absolutely in the committed spirit of President Muhammadu Buhari in delivering good governance to Nigerians. No one can get everything right except with the support of the Almighty.

Come to think of it, look at the massive rail infrastructure that has never happened in the history of Nigeria, but Buhari is making it happen. N-Power, Trader money, Anchor borrower by CBN and so on are Initiatives by the Buhari led Administration to change the narratives.

The Buni lead caretaker extraordinary convention planning Committee is also playing the inclusive game to the best of its ability So the party needs a man of integrity to avoid derailment.

Mallam Saliu Mustapha was at a time the deputy National Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC and is a young Nigerian with the right pedigree to be the National Chairman of the party.

If Saliu is given the opportunity, he will encourage many young Nigerians to join the party, they will say there is hope for young people in APC

While APC is working on who will be its flagbearer as a matter of political calculation and permutation come 2023, Mallam Saliu Mustapha as a National Chairman is poised to provide the right leadership to the admiration of all APC members.
