The governor’s appeal was made during an event held by the State Pilgrims Welfare Board in Kano, where a refund from Saudi Arabian authorities was distributed to pilgrims. This refund was issued following a power outage during the 2023 Hajj season.

Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Government for the refund and pledged to send a formal letter of appreciation through the Kingdom’s consulate in Kano. He also commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for its prompt and transparent handling of the refunds.

Having recently returned from Saudi Arabia after performing the Lesser Hajj, Governor Yusuf revealed that preparations for the 2025 Hajj are already underway. Efforts are being made to identify areas where improvements can be made for the upcoming pilgrimage.

Aminu Abdulsalam, the Deputy Governor and Head of the 2024 Kano State Hajj Delegation, praised the governor for his continued support of the Pilgrims Welfare Board. Laminu Danbaffa, the board’s Director-General, disclosed that a total of N375 million had been refunded to pilgrims from the 2023 Hajj exercise.
