The tragic event occurred on Monday, with only Sifawa’s in-law, Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, the Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, surviving the ordeal.

In a statement, Governor Aliyu expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as a heartbreaking tragedy. He assured Sifawa of the government’s full support during this incredibly difficult time.

“It is with profound grief that, on behalf of the Government and people of Sokoto State, I express my deepest condolences to Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, for the tragic loss of his daughter, Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, along with her three children – Fatimatu Bello Yusuf, Maryam Bello Yusuf, Abubakar Sadik Bello Yusuf – and their house help, Aishatu Muhammad, in the tragic fire that occurred in the early hours of Monday,” the statement read.

Governor Aliyu further stated that the whole community shares in the grief, emphasizing the unimaginable pain of losing loved ones in such an untimely and heartbreaking manner. He also pledged continued support from the government during this challenging time.

The Governor offered prayers for the eternal rest of the deceased, expressing sympathy for the families and friends affected. “May Almighty Allah (SWT) grant them eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus and provide strength and patience to the grieving family during this irreplaceable loss,” he added.

Governor Aliyu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to offering necessary assistance as Sifawa and his family navigate this period of mourning.
