Prior to submitting himself to the police, HRM Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe held a press conference briefing, expressing surprise at being listed as a wanted person. He vehemently denied any involvement in the killings, emphasizing his commitment to peace and justice.
In his statement, the monarch stated, “I have no hand in the killings, I have no hand in encouraging anybody to kill anybody, it is against my philosophy as a human being and my faith as a Catholic.”
He further explained that efforts were being made by the state government to reconcile differences within the kingdom, allowing him to resume his role as the monarch. He emphasized his lack of involvement in any activities within the kingdom due to ongoing challenges.
