Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has explained that his visit to President Bola Tinubu was primarily to appreciate him for allowing the democratic process to prevail during the recently concluded governorship election in the state.

Adeleke was re-elected as governor on August 15 after securing 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

The governor won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji emerged victorious in 11 councils.

Following the election and his receipt of the Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke visited the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, where he held a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Adeleke said he visited the President to express his gratitude for allowing the election to take place without interference.

According to Ireporter Online, the Osun governor described Tinubu as the “father of the nation” and praised him for supporting the democratic process.

Adeleke said the President’s commitment to democracy contributed to the conduct of what he described as a free and fair election.

He said, “Yeah, that is why I’m here to thank Mr. President, the father of the nation, because he fought for this democracy.
