The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has issued a serious weather alert forecasting a three-day spell of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across multiple states, beginning from Monday, July 21, and continuing through Wednesday, July 23, 2025. The official weather projection indicates a nation-wide weather disturbance affecting the northern, central, and southern regions of the country, with varied intensities of rainfall, thunderstorm activity, and strong winds.

According to IREPORTER ONLINE, early Monday morning will see thunderstorms over parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Sokoto, and Kaduna. The southern region is also not spared, as states such as Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, and Ondo are all expected to face light to heavy rainfall, especially from the afternoon into evening hours.

In Northern Nigeria, the forecast shows a dynamic pattern. While some regions may experience early morning sunshine with intermittent cloud cover, the afternoons are likely to bring severe downpours. States like Zamfara, Gombe, Jigawa, and Katsina are expected to face turbulent weather, with thunderstorm threats becoming more intense into the evenings.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, NiMet’s outlook emphasizes that Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Delta, Abia, and Bayelsa will experience significant rainfall from Monday through Wednesday, while states like Rivers and Akwa Ibom could witness heavier downpours in the evenings. Coastal regions are particularly vulnerable to flooding and should prepare accordingly.
