Wike Fires Back At Ohanaeze President-General Over ‘Semi-Illiterate’ Remark
According to reports, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has strongly criticised the President-General of Ohanaeze, John Mbata, for describing him as “semi-illiterate.” Speaking in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni (ONELGA) Local Government Area of Rivers State on Friday, Wike highlighted that Mbata did not complete his law degree at Rivers State University.
Wike, who holds the fourth-highest national award in Nigeria, emphasised his own educational achievements, noting that he graduated from both the University of Port Harcourt and Rivers State University and is a life bencher. He stated, “Ordinarily, I wouldn’t respond, but I will. Someone labelled the FCT Minister as semi-illiterate yet dropped out from Rivers State University while studying law. I, on the other hand, completed my studies, attended law school, and today, I am a life bencher with one of the nation’s top awards.”
The Minister also addressed claims by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara that some supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have shifted allegiance to President Bola Tinubu. Wike dismissed the assertion, saying, “They couldn’t even deliver 10% for Atiku in 2023. The political advantage is unclear. We will ensure full support for President Tinubu as required.”
