Yoruba Obas Council Criticizes Exclusion of Non-Indigenes from Palliative Distribution

Council of Yoruba Obas and Chiefs in the 19 Northern states and Abuja has voiced strong criticism regarding the exclusion of non-indigenes from recent palliative distributions. In a statement released on Monday, Ambassador Muhammad Arigbabuwo, Chairman of the Council, expressed disappointment at the lack of inclusion for non-indigenes in the distribution schemes.

Arigbabuwo, who personally signed the statement, urged state governors to ensure that non-indigenes are considered in the allocation of palliatives. He highlighted that non-indigenes have been completely omitted from these distributions, which he views as unjust.

“If we truly consider ourselves one Nigeria, not just satellite states, we all deserve equal access to these benefits,” Arigbabuwo asserted. He called on President Bola Tinubu, the National Assembly, and other key stakeholders to address the issue and ensure that non-indigenes receive their fair share of palliatives.

The statement further criticized the tendency of humanitarian and financial support programs to favor indigenes exclusively, leaving non-indigenes without assistance.

Despite his criticism, Arigbabuwo commended the security forces for their efforts to maintain national peace and unity, particularly during the recent nationwide “End Bad Governance” protest. He also encouraged Nigerians to continue supporting the current administration through prayers for its smooth operation.

This development underscores a growing concern about equitable distribution of resources and the need for more inclusive policies in humanitarian efforts.
