See What Senate Just Did To Ex-IGP Arase After Buhari Requested His Confirmation As PSC Chairman

Solomon Arase (rtd), a former Inspector General of Police, was confirmed as chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) by the Senate on Wednesday.

The confirmation came after the Senate Committee on Police Affairs considered the screening report presented by Senator Haliru Jika (APC – Bauchi Central) during plenary on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), requested that the Senate confirm Arase’s appointment as the new PSC chairman.

The President stated in a letter read during plenary on Tuesday by Senate President Ahmad Lawan that the appointment was made in accordance with Section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution.

With his confirmation, Arase succeeds Musiliu Smith, who recently resigned as chairman.
