Anti-Oil Theft: Combined Security Forces Dismantle Major Illegal Oil Refinery In Delta (PHOTOS)

To tackle the activities of oil thieves in South-South Nigeria and protect the nation’s oil sector from economic sabotage, a joint team comprising the Nigerian Army’s 181 Amphibious Battalion, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Tantita Security conducted a successful operation in Owahwa community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The operation, carried out on July 29, 2023, was the result of careful surveillance aimed at apprehending unauthorized oil refiners in the area.

During the raid, the vigilant operatives discovered and dismantled an illegal oil refining operation, which included 35 modular ovens, three fabricated reservoirs, 30 dug-out reservoirs, and 75 galvanized pipes used for crude oil refining.

This crackdown marks a significant triumph in the ongoing fight against oil theft.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, issued a statement urging law-abiding citizens to continue supporting these efforts against oil theft.

He also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal oil refining and bunkering in their communities to the appropriate security agencies.
