The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is once again laboring under the misconception that its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will emerge victorious in his appeal at the Supreme Court.

The party dismissed the opposition’s confidence in winning the appeal, describing it as unfounded and reiterated that Atiku and his party are headed for yet another resounding defeat.

The Supreme Court, on Monday, October 23, reserved judgment in the appeal lodged by Abubakar and his party against the September 6 verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), which affirmed the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the last presidential election.

Following the adoption of briefs of argument and final submissions by lawyers representing the parties, Justice John Okoro, leading a seven-member panel of the court, made the announcement.

In a statement released in Abuja on Monday, APC’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed the PDP’s optimism about a victory at the apex court. Morka, who is also a lawyer, argued that court cases are decided based on solid, credible, and compelling evidence, not on empty, implausible, and fanciful narratives and fabrications like the ones presented by Atiku Abubakar as a so-called “body of evidence”, which amounted to nothing.

The APC contended that the PDP must be seriously misguided to think it can achieve in court what it rightfully failed to achieve through the polls. The party also deemed the PDP’s claim that the election was “manipulated” against its candidate as both absurd and disrespectful to the millions of Nigerians who overwhelmingly voted for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Presidential Candidate, now President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He said: “The PDP and its candidate’s desperate resort to blackmail, disinformation, misinformation, and malicious falsehoods against the President and our great Party is intended to prospectively downplay what promises to be a spectacular and ignominious defeat that awaits the PDP and its nemesis of a presidential candidate.”
