DHQ’s Call to Clarity: Christian Leader Accusing Military To Face Inquiry Over Killings Claim”
Amidst the disturbing allegations that the military is complicit in the violence plaguing Plateau State, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced plans to invite Rev Timothy Daluk, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Mangu Local Government Area….CONTINUE READING
The move comes after Daluk made damning accusations, asserting the military’s involvement in orchestrating attacks against Christians and their properties in the state.
In a widely circulated video, Daluk expressed, “I am here to report the situation happening in Mangu Local Government for the whole world to understand.
What is happening in Mangu at this particular point in time, the military are the ones sending our people away for the militia to burn their houses.” He specifically pointed to an unsettling situation where Christians were allegedly forced out of the new market, leaving their homes vulnerable to destruction.
In response to these serious claims, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, revealed to Punch on Thursday that the DHQ is actively initiating contact with the cleric to gather more information and substantiate the allegations.
Major General Buba acknowledged the emotional toll such traumatic experiences can take on individuals, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.
He stated, “DHQ is in the process of reaching out to him to come and substantiate the claims. It is not unusual for emotions to cloud people’s judgment when they have been confronted with a very traumatising experience.
We would get to the bottom of his allegations after we have an audience with him.”
Assuring the public, Major General Buba affirmed the military’s commitment to carrying out their duties professionally and in line with the best international standards.
As the inquiry unfolds, the spotlight remains on the need for transparency and clarity surrounding the complex dynamics contributing to the ongoing crisis in Plateau State.
