The controversy emerged after Senator Ningi reversed his earlier assertions concerning certain aspects of the 2024 Appropriation Act, where he had accused President Bola Tinubu of implementing two separate budgets and displaying bias against the Northern region.
Disputing Ningi’s claims, Ibrahim emphasized that there is no basis for the assertion that the country operates under two distinct Appropriation Acts. He stressed the urgency of holding Ningi accountable for his statements, asserting that such misinformation could incite discord and disrupt the peace of the nation.
Expressing his resolve to pursue legal action if the Senate fails to address the issue promptly, Ibrahim declared his intention to petition the Inspector General of Police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the purported existence of two 2024 Appropriation Acts and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
In conclusion, Ibrahim reiterated the necessity of upholding truth and integrity in public discourse, emphasizing that Senator Ningi must face the consequences for disseminating misleading information that could sow seeds of discord and disrupt the harmony of the nation.
