Breaking: Minister And Governor To Lead-Community Policing Town-Hall (Details)

Minister of State for Police Affairs, Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, will lead a citizens’ town hall meeting on community policing in Lafia today. The event aims to create a robust policy and implementation framework for community policing.

The meeting, titled “Renewed Hope Police Agenda Citizenship Town Hall Engagement,” will bring together stakeholders from the security sector to address the nation’s security challenges and propose solutions.

President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, lawmakers, traditional and religious leaders, civil societies, student bodies, and women groups are expected to participate.

The minister highlighted that the outcomes of the meeting should include increased transparency between the ministry and citizens, fostering trust and understanding, and enhancing knowledge of policing reforms, leading to a more informed and engaged community.

The first edition of this town hall was held in Lagos, where recommendations were made to bridge the gap between citizens and the police.

“The minister acknowledges that addressing Nigeria’s productivity challenges, economic growth, social development, integration into the global economy, and prosperity is dependent on the level of security in the country,” the organizers stated.
