The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended popular Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe over allegations of physical assault on a film set. The disciplinary action follows reports that the actress allegedly slapped a crew member affiliated with the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) during a production.

In an official statement issued to all state chapter chairmen and the national executive leadership, the AGN announced Igwe’s indefinite suspension, citing her conduct as a violation of professional ethics.

According to the Guild, the decision was made in response to acts of “violence and indiscipline” deemed capable of tarnishing the image of the acting profession. The statement further instructed all members to withdraw from participating in any production involving the suspended actress pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

The incident has sparked concern within the industry, as stakeholders continue to call for higher standards of behavior among professionals on and off set. The Guild’s move is seen as part of broader efforts to uphold discipline and accountability within Nigeria’s film industry.
