President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a significant cabinet reshuffle, relieving Wale Edun of his duties as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

According to Ireporter Online, the President has appointed Taiwo Oyedele, who previously served as Minister of State, as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

In the same development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has been removed from his position as Minister of Housing and Urban Development. He is to be replaced by Mr Muttaqha Rabe Darma (PhD), who has been nominated and designated as the incoming minister for the ministry.

The changes were confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, noting that the President approved a minor restructuring of his cabinet.

A memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, indicated that both Edun and Dangiwa are to vacate their offices, with immediate replacements already named.

The statement further directed that Edun hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who now assumes leadership of the Finance Ministry, while Musa Dangiwa is to transfer responsibilities within the Housing Ministry to the Minister of State.

It added that all handing over and taking over processes must be concluded on or before Thursday, 23rd April, 2026.

Explaining the rationale behind the decision, Akume stated that the reshuffle is intended to enhance coordination within government and improve economic delivery under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He further noted that the President exercised his constitutional authority under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in making the changes.

President Tinubu also expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours, while reaffirming that the process of government reinvigoration will remain ongoing.
