Why I Stopped Paying Tithe – Sarah Martins Opens Up
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Sarah Martins has explained why she no longer pays tithe, saying she believes her money has a greater impact when it is used to support and uplift people facing hardship rather than being donated to churches.
According to Ireporter Online, the actress made the disclosure during an interview with Nolly TV, where she discussed her passion for charity and her commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people.
Martins said she considers her acts of kindness and financial support for the less privileged as her own interpretation of tithing, maintaining that assisting those who lack basic necessities is a more meaningful way of giving back.
The actress stated that she prefers to channel her resources towards feeding, empowering and providing relief for people who have no one else to rely on instead of contributing tithes to pastors she described as already wealthy.
She further explained that helping others brings her fulfilment because she believes she is extending the blessings she receives from God to those around her, allowing more people to benefit.
Martins added that many people in her community depend on her generosity, noting that she often spends her own money on charitable activities, including purchasing food items and personally preparing meals for those in need.
Speaking on her philosophy, she said she would rather invest in changing lives than enrich wealthy religious leaders, insisting that her humanitarian efforts represent her own form of paying tithe.
