Governor Fubara praised the Assembly for its swift processing of nominations and prompt passage of executive bills. His remarks came during the commissioning of two modern community town halls and the launch of a scholarship and empowerment program by the Speaker in Bonny Local Government Area. The event underscored the Speaker’s dedication to local development and support for the government’s vision.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Edison Ehie, the governor extended his congratulations to Speaker Oko-Jumbo, expressing appreciation for his advocacy on behalf of the Ibani Kingdom. He assured the public that, despite their independent roles, the executive and legislative branches would continue collaborating to benefit Rivers residents.

Governor Fubara also commended the Speaker’s focus on constituency projects, contrasting it with the inaction of 25 former Assembly members, whom he referred to as “Abuja-based politicians.” He highlighted the Speaker’s efforts in establishing the town halls, awarding scholarships to 30 students, and providing financial support to 100 Bonny residents.

In response, Speaker Oko-Jumbo thanked the people of Bonny for their support of the 10th Assembly and reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the governor’s agenda. Despite opposition from what he termed “enemies of the state” and criticism from the former Assembly members, the Speaker assured Bonny residents that their community would be prioritized in the upcoming 2025 budget and future infrastructure projects.
