Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, announced the development on Sunday, revealing that the governor had also reached out to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Chief Justice of Nigeria for their assistance in resolving the crisis.
Expressing concern over the prolonged strike, Rasheed stated, “Worried by protracted strike action by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Governor Ademola Adeleke has set up a seven-man committee to urgently resolve the industrial dispute.”
The governor’s letters to the top judicial officials outlined his efforts thus far in addressing the crisis, emphasizing the need for a speedy resolution while respecting the autonomy of the judiciary.
Chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye, the committee has been given a seven-day mandate to find a lasting solution to the dispute and restore normalcy within the judiciary.
Rasheed reiterated the governor’s commitment to restoring operations in the judiciary, highlighting previous initiatives such as salary payments and negotiations on allowances. Adeleke’s intervention underscores the urgency of the situation and the imperative of ensuring the seamless functioning of the judicial system for the dispensation of justice.
While acknowledging the delicate balance between executive intervention and judicial independence, Rasheed emphasized the necessity of resolving the crisis promptly to prevent further disruption to judicial proceedings.
Adeleke’s proactive measures reflect his dedication to governance and the well-being of Osun State, signaling a determined effort to navigate challenges and uphold the rule of law.
