APC Blasts Obaseki’s Health Policies, Warns Edo People Against Ighodalo
The APC New Media Directorate, led by Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah, has issued a scathing warning to the people of Edo State, revealing what they describe as the gross failures of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s health policies and urging citizens to reject his anointed successor, Asue Ighodalo.
In a strongly worded statement, the APC Directorate accused Governor Obaseki of betraying the trust of Edo citizens by failing to deliver on his health sector promises. The Directorate highlighted the governor’s refusal to increase salaries for health workers, leaving them demoralized and underpaid, despite their crucial role in the well-being of the state.
The statement also took aim at the Central Hospital in Benin City, which was initially built to world-class standards by the previous administration and commissioned by former President Muhammadu Buhari. The APC Directorate criticized Obaseki for turning the hospital into an elite facility, accessible only to the wealthy, while the common man is left struggling to afford care. They further exposed the practice of selling two different categories of patient cards at varying prices, effectively segregating the rich and the poor.
The Directorate did not stop there. They condemned Obaseki for failing to deliver on his promise to construct community hospitals across the state, labeling his entire health agenda as a scam. According to the APC, these unfulfilled promises have left Edo’s health sector in disarray, with no tangible progress to show after eight years in office.
The APC Directorate also pointed fingers at Asue Ighodalo, Obaseki’s economic adviser and handpicked successor, accusing him of being the mastermind behind these failed policies. They claimed that Ighodalo has been instrumental in driving the governor’s disastrous decisions, which have plunged the state into a health crisis.
In their statement, the APC Directorate urged Edo citizens to reject both Obaseki and Ighodalo, warning that their administration has been solely focused on “milking the state dry” rather than serving the people. They emphasized that a continuation of the Obaseki-Ighodalo administration would only bring further hardship to the state.
“Edo people, we cannot allow this deception to continue. Obaseki’s administration has been a failure, and Ighodalo will be no different,” the statement read. “It is time to stand up and choose a future where progress and development are possible.”
The APC Directorate’s warning comes as the Edo governorship election draws near, with the opposition party making a strong push to sway voters away from the current administration and its chosen successor.
