According to reports, thugs allegedly loyal to Governor Obaseki attacked Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC gubernatorial candidate, upon his arrival in Benin City. This brutal attack resulted in the tragic death of a police aide accompanying Senator Okpebholo and has been described by the APC as an assassination attempt on the senator’s life.

The APC New Media Directorate has labeled Governor Obaseki’s threats as not only irresponsible but also dangerous. They argue that such rhetoric is unbecoming of a public official, especially a governor who is expected to be a pillar of peace and stability. The APC claims that the state’s vigilante security outfit, which they allege is controlled by Governor Obaseki, is widely suspected of orchestrating the attack on Senator Okpebholo.

In response to these events, the APC New Media Directorate is calling for immediate action from President Bola Tinubu.
