Attacks Won’t Stop Elections, INEC Reassures Nigerians

Mutiu Agboke, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, has assured Nigerians that the 2023 general elections will take place despite attacks on INEC facilities.

He also revealed that security is being increased at the Commission’s offices across the state to ensure the security of both sensitive and nonsensitive materials.

He stated this on Saturday during a sensitization rally for Osogbo residents organized by the Commission in collaboration with the nongovernmental organization Power of PVCs ahead of the 2023 elections.

The REC stated that the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the Results Viewing Portal (IReV) for voter accreditation and real-time uploading of polling unit results was permanent.

Agboke warned Nigerians against vote trading, warning that offenders would face a penalty.
