BREAKING: APC Announces Lawan’s Defection

A member of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Lawan Musa Majakura, has joined the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

APC shared photos on its X handle on Thursday, November 16, disclosing it.

The captions reads: “The Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, today received into our great Party, Hon. Lawan Musa Majakura, the lone member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state House of Assembly.”

The defection was marked by a ceremony at the official residence of Governor Mai Mala Buni in the Government House.

Accompanied by Yobe Speaker Chiroma Buba Mashio, Deputy Speaker Hon. Yau Daachia, and other Assembly members, Majakura was warmly received by Governor Buni.

The Governor commended Majakura’s youthfulness and political acumen, expressing satisfaction with his commitment to serving the constituency.

Majakura attributed his decision to defect from the PDP to the commendable efforts of Governor Buni’s administration in implementing transformative infrastructure projects in his constituency. He specifically highlighted the positive impact of road construction, housing estates, and medical facilities on local communities.

The 28-year-old Majakura, a former volunteer primary school teacher, had previously won the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly election, defeating former Speaker Mohammed Mirwa on the PDP platform.

With Majakura’s defection, only Sadiq Yahaya remains in the opposition PDP out of the 23 members in the Yobe House of Assembly
