BREAKING: Former SGF Is Dead

Malam Dr. Adamu Fika (Wazirin Fika), a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has passed away at the age of 90. He battled a health-related challenge for some time and sadly, he passed away mid-flight while returning from a London hospital to Kaduna on Tuesday.

Funeral prayers will be held at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 4:00pm.

Born in Fika, which is now in Yobe State, in 1933, Malam Adamu Fika had a distinguished career in the civil service.

He later served as the Pro-chancellor and chairman of the Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. Additionally, he held the position of chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).

Malam Adamu Fika initiated his educational journey at Kaduna Government College and the Nigerian College of Arts, Science, and Technology, now recognized as Ahmadu Bello University.

He held several pivotal roles, including Permanent Secretary in various federal ministries such as Internal Affairs, Commerce, and Communications. He also served as the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and made significant contributions to Nigeria’s development.

For his exceptional service, he received numerous honors and awards, including the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) bestowed by the Federal Government in 1992.

Malam Adamu Fika’s unwavering dedication, integrity, and leadership abilities earned him high esteem and respect throughout Nigeria. He leaves behind a legacy of service and commitment to the nation.
