Breaking News: Nigerian Army Neutralizes 177-Terrorists, Recovers Ammunition In Nationwide-Operations (Details)
Troops of the Nigerian Army have made significant strides in the fight against terrorism, neutralizing 177 terrorists and apprehending 263 others during operations conducted across the country this past week. This was disclosed by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, during a performance review on Friday.
In his statement, Major General Buba detailed the week’s achievements, highlighting the army’s efforts in combating terrorism and other forms of criminal activities. He reported, “During the week, troops neutralised 177 terrorists and arrested 263 persons. Troops also arrested 41 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 158 kidnapped hostages.”
The operations also led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition. According to Major General Buba, the troops recovered 170 assorted weapons and 4,692 assorted rounds of ammunition. The breakdown of recovered weapons includes:
– Six PKT guns
– 63 AK-47 rifles
– Three FN rifles
– One SMG rifle
– 29 locally fabricated guns
– 37 dane guns
– 20 pump action guns
– One short double-barrel gun
– Two double-barrel guns
– Two single-barrel guns
– One locally made single-barrel gun
– Six locally fabricated pistols
– Four bandoliers
– RPG bombs
– RPG chargers
– Two primed IEDs and related materials
The Nigerian Army’s efforts have not only disrupted terrorist activities but also struck a blow against oil theft and kidnapping operations. The rescue of 158 kidnapped hostages marks a critical achievement in ensuring the safety and security of civilians across affected regions.
