Nwokocha’s motion was supported by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe from Abia-South Senatorial District.

Following the motion, Senate President Godswill Akpabio conducted a voice vote on the matter. However, the senators held differing opinions, leading to a tumultuous atmosphere in the Senate. Amid the intense debate among the lawmakers, Akpabio stood up and announced that the Senate would move into a closed session.

Nwokocha’s move was based on his accusation that Keyamo disrespected the 9th National Assembly and criticized the previous Assembly for corruption. Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), had previously served as the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
