BREAKING: Tinubu Appoints New EFCC Chairman, Secretary (DETAILS)
In accordance with section 2 (3) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004, which vests the authority in President Bola Tinubu to appoint the Chairman and members of the Commission, excluding ex-officio members, President Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Mr. Olukoyede’s initial term will be four years, renewable, pending confirmation by the Senate.

Mr. Ola Olukoyede is a seasoned lawyer with over twenty-two (22) years of experience, specializing in regulatory compliance consulting, fraud management, and corporate intelligence. With his extensive background in EFCC operations, having previously served as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman (2016-2018) and Secretary to the Commission (2018-2023), he meets the statutory requirements for assuming the role of EFCC Chairman.
Following the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, Mr. Olukoyede has been appointed to the position.
Additionally, President Bola Tinubu has given his endorsement for Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda to take on the role of Secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Mr. Hammajoda’s initial term will be five years, renewable, awaiting Senate confirmation.
Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda is a seasoned public administrator with extensive expertise in public finance management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Masters in Business Administration from the same institution. His career began as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, and subsequently transitioned into the banking sector, where he excelled in roles at the now-defunct Allied Bank and Standard Trust Bank.
President Bola Tinubu has charged the new leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to validate the trust placed in them for this vital national duty. He emphasized that the revitalized anti-corruption effort, executed through a reformed institutional framework in the anti-corruption sector, remains a central component of the President’s Renewed Hope agenda.
