BREAKING: What Appeal Court Did To Senator Goje’s Election

Muhammadu Danjuma Goje

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has affirmed Danjuma Goje’s election as the senator representing the Gombe Central senatorial district.

A three-member panel of judges also rejected the appeal made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abubakar Aliyu, regarding the senatorial election that took place on February 25.

The panel upheld the decision made by the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Gombe, which, on September 26, dismissed the petition brought forth by Aliyu and the PDP against Goje and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The petitioners, led by their chief counsel, Edwin Okoro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), contended that the election was tainted by widespread rigging and irregularities involving Goje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In their ruling, the three-judge panel, presided over by Justice Biobele Georgewill, endorsed the tribunal’s decision and dismissed the petition, stating that the petitioners did not provide sufficient evidence to substantiate their claims that Goje had participated in the PDP primary election.
