Cardi B Faces Civil Lawsuit After Microphone Hits Fan in Explosive Concert Clash
American rapper Cardi B is facing a civil lawsuit from a concertgoer who claims she was assaulted during a 2023 performance in Las Vegas.
According to information obtained by iReporter Online, the lawsuit was filed on Monday, July 21, by a woman identified as Jane Doe, who accuses the award-winning artist of assault, battery, and negligence. The incident reportedly occurred during a show at Drai’s Beachclub, where Cardi B was seen in a viral video hurling a microphone into the crowd following a moment of on-stage tension.
Jane Doe alleges that the microphone struck her unexpectedly, resulting in physical injury and emotional distress. The action allegedly took place shortly after someone in the crowd splashed water at the performer while she was delivering her hit track, “Bodak Yellow.”
Though Cardi B initially appeared to take the incident lightly, the plaintiff claims the mood shifted when the artist abruptly threw the microphone into the audience—an act that allegedly caused her injury and humiliation, particularly as footage of the moment circulated widely online.
Adding to the controversy, the same microphone was later auctioned off for nearly $100,000, further intensifying public interest in the case.
The lawsuit also names the event organizers, Drai’s Management Group, as co-defendants, holding them responsible for inadequate crowd control and failure to prevent escalation. Jane Doe referenced another reported incident involving Cardi B the night before, in which the rapper allegedly threw a microphone at a DJ, arguing that security should have been heightened.
Although the case was previously closed by law enforcement due to insufficient evidence and no criminal charges were filed, the civil suit has now been reopened, with the plaintiff seeking financial compensation.
Cardi B’s legal team has responded, dismissing the lawsuit as without merit and expressing confidence that the matter will be resolved in the artist’s favor.
