Dangote Cement
Dangote Cement, one of Nigeria’s leading brands, is currently priced between ₦9,000 and ₦9,500 per 50kg bag, depending on location.
- Lagos: ₦9,600 per bag
- Abuja: ₦9,400 per bag
BUA Cement
Initially, BUA Cement announced a price reduction to ₦3,500 per bag in late 2023, but market forces prevented this from being sustained. Currently, BUA Cement sells for ₦8,000 to ₦8,500 per bag:
- Lagos: ₦8,000 per bag
- Abuja: ₦8,300 per bag
Lafarge Cement
Lafarge Cement products vary in pricing:
- Lafarge Classic Cement: ₦9,500 per bag
- Elephant Supaset Portland Limestone Cement: ₦10,000 per bag
- Lafarge Water Shield Waterproof Cement: ₦10,500 per bag
Several key factors contribute to the rising cost of cement in Nigeria:
- Economic Policies: The Naira’s devaluation and subsidy removals have increased production and transportation costs.
- Supply Chain Challenges: Price manipulation by middlemen has led to inflation beyond manufacturers’ set prices.
- Regional Variations: Differences in proximity to cement plants and transport logistics create price disparities across the country.
With market trends indicating a potential price increase in the coming months, consumers and businesses in the construction sector may face additional challenges.
