Delta Police Seize-Cache Of AK-49, AK-47 Rifles And Ammunition (Details)

Police in Delta State uncovered a sack hidden in the bush containing three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

The discovery followed an intelligence report received on Thursday from a vigilant community member in Agbarho. The informant, whose identity is withheld, tipped off the police about a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Uwurghelli village, near the rail tracks.

Acting on this information, CSP Josephine Ekebuike, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Division, led police operatives to the site. The team cordoned off the area and conducted an intensive search, resulting in the discovery of the hidden arms and ammunition.

Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi praised the swift action taken by the Agbarho Police Station and emphasized the importance of police-community partnerships. “I commend the DPO and men of Agbarho Police Station for their prompt response to the credible information received,” Olufemi stated. He encouraged the public to continue cooperating with the police, asserting that such partnerships are crucial for effective crime prevention.

The command has launched a serious manhunt for the fleeing suspected kidnappers, vowing to act promptly on credible information to prevent crime.
