Pentecostalism has long been associated with a flair for spectacle, but even so, the opulent display at the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (CMDM) in Warri, Delta State, left everyone in awe.

The church’s founder, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, marked his wife Prophetess Anthonia’s birthday with an extravagant gesture, gifting her a staggering N55 million.

In a theatrical presentation, the preacher serenaded his wife as she cut her “modest cake.” He then surprised her with birthday presents, which included a loaf of bread, rows of sachet chocolate beverages, and sachet milk.

Amidst the anticipation, the preacher instructed her to open the bread, revealing a hidden key. This initiated a treasure hunt leading to a safe in his office, where the N55 million was stashed. The prophet presented it to his wife, eliciting exuberant cheers from the congregation.

Overwhelmed by the sight of the cash gift, the prophetess fainted briefly and had to be revived before the celebration continued.

After presenting his wife with the cash gift, the celebration moved back to the altar, where other members joined the preacher on stage. They sang and danced jubilantly while showering the celebrant with cash, covering the altar floor in naira notes.

But the generosity didn’t end there. The church witnessed an outpouring of fainting spells as the benevolent prophet distributed millions to his congregants. Some received N5 million, others N1.5 million, and some N1 million, totaling N75 million spent by the prophet.

In addition, three men who supported the prophet’s wife were gifted N3 million as a gesture of appreciation for their unwavering support.

This isn’t the first time the pastor has showered his wife with substantial gifts. In October 2021, he surprised her with a N20 million gift for her birthday. The video of the touching moment went viral, showing his wife’s shocked reaction and subsequent collapse onto their bed.

Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, born in Burutu, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria on February 15, 1971, has gained recognition for his philanthropy, which includes returning tithes to his church members. He’s also known for generous acts like gifting N30 million to his church workers to celebrate Christmas in December 2018. In 2016, Nollywood practitioners honored him with an award for his exceptional philanthropic efforts on his 44th birthday.
