Timber, who arrived at Arsenal from Ajax last summer in a £38m deal, has found himself making only two appearances for the Gunners.

His Premier League debut was marred by a severe ACL injury suffered against Nottingham Forest.

Despite playing for 76 minutes in Arsenal’s victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield, the Netherlands international has struggled to secure regular game time.

“In some moments, it has indeed been challenging because you’re not out there playing, and that’s what you love to do,” Timber expressed to Arsenal’s website.

“There are times when you’re so engrossed in the game, and you really want to contribute to the team. It can be frustrating when you see such fantastic moments and you yearn to be part of it.”
