Fintiri’s Shocking Demand: Submit Your Certificates Or Lose October Salary

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has instructed more than 7,000 government employees to submit their original certificates to receive their salaries for October. This mandate comes in response to growing concerns about certificate fraud within various ministries, boards, and parastatals in the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Yola by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonisouko, the governor emphasized that the initiative aims to restore order within the civil service and is not intended to target any specific individuals.

He noted that this requirement applies to all workers in government institutions, ministries, and agencies.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has mandated that all workers in government institutions, ministries, boards, and agencies immediately present their certificates. This exercise is not a witch-hunt but rather a measure to ensure accountability within the system,” the statement read.

Governor Fintiri further stated that any employee who fails to comply with this directive will have their October salary withheld until they submit their certificates. However, he assured workers that those who provide their documentation by the end of October will not lose any salary.

This decision arises from concerns regarding misconduct and the exploitation of loopholes within the system, with Fintiri asserting that the civil service should embody “scholarship and honesty” rather than serve as a refuge for unqualified individuals.

“These issues must be addressed. The civil service should be a sanctuary for scholarship and integrity, not a haven for misfits,” he added.
