Fabregas believes Arteta is building a Premier League powerhouse similar to what Guardiola achieved with City. Prior to Guardiola’s 2016 arrival, City were not consistent title contenders, but they have since won 15 major trophies, including one UEFA Champions League and six Premier League titles.

Arteta, who began his coaching career as Guardiola’s assistant at City, has had a more gradual rise. Since taking over Arsenal in 2019, he has won one FA Cup and two Community Shields. In the past two seasons, Arteta’s team has contended for the Premier League title, notably pushing City to the wire in the 2023-2024 season.

Fabregas highlights Arsenal’s progress under Arteta, emphasizing that their second-place finish this season is a significant achievement. He notes the difficulty of competing against top teams and acknowledges the challenges faced by Arsenal in the Premier League and European competitions.

In an interview with El Larguero, Fabregas stated, “It’s still an achievement. They don’t give it much attention because City always win, but it’s very difficult. Arsenal are creating a monster too, and it’s only a matter of time before their full potential is realized.”
