France Applauds NDLEA’s Efforts In The Drug War, Donates Operational Equipment
The French government has donated operational equipment to Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to bolster the ongoing fight against drug trafficking. The Ambassador highlighted the NDLEA’s operational successes, including over 57,792 arrests, the seizure of 9.9 million kilograms of illicit drugs, and 10,572 convictions within just four years. He commended Nigeria for its robust anti-narcotics efforts and expressed that these achievements position the country well for deeper collaboration with France in the fight against drug trafficking.
In response, NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd) thanked the French government for the equipment donation, stressing that it would significantly enhance the agency’s operations. Marwa also called for specialized training in investigations and cyber transactions, as well as additional support for the agency’s Alternative Development Project, which encourages cannabis farmers to transition to alternative crops.
The partnership reflects the growing cooperation between Nigeria and France in addressing global drug challenges.
