‘Hardship Is Everywhere’ – Zamfara PDP Acting Chair Addresses Protestors
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State, Mukhtar Lugga, has stated that the issue of hardship is everywhere across Nigeria.
However, he acknowledged that the federal, state and local governments are doing everything possible to address the situation.
Lugga believed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies would eventually address the socioeconomic challenges of the country.
Ireporteronline reports that the PDP Acting Chairman, conveyed this message to journalists in Gusau on Friday while speaking about the violent nature of the nationwide protests and the subsequent looting in nearby states.
He noted that the ongoing nationwide protests did not extend to their north-western state, attributing this to the effective governance of Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal.
He said, “Zamfara residents are happy with the state administration; they are happy that much is being achieved.
“The government has initiated many programmes and policies that have been beneficial. It has declared a state of emergency in education and health. It has also paid a backlog of gratuities.
“The administration has also constructed or reconstructed roads. It has renovated and equipped schools and hospitals and intervened in agricultural businesses, among other initiatives.”
Lugga added: “In addition to what the state government is doing, we will continue to pray for the president to succeed in fixing the country’s economy.
“Hardship is everywhere, but all tiers of government are taking necessary measures to tackle the situation.”
The citizens were also encouraged to maintain lawfulness and to offer prayers for the leaders to effectively address the issues impacting the nation.
Ireporteronline understands that Gusau and other localities in the region remained peaceful, as there were no participants in the protest on the second day of the ongoing event, which is scheduled to last until August 10th.
